Girls vs Northern United
Lost: 1 - 0
The junior girls played the team at the top of the table today. It was a great game but we just wouldn't put the ball in that rectangle thing with the wire netting around it. We finish round robin with a win 4 draws and 5 losses. 8 goals for and 9 against. Next week is our last game and it's against Hutt. All supporters welcome. We're trying to finish our goal difference in the positives.

Girls vs Toa
Lost: 2 - 1
The junior girls lost 2-1 today. Poor skills at crucial times led to goals. It was a good tough game though. A nice goal from Izzy but we couldn't get the win we needed. It's a tough grade, we have a better goal average than the team that will take the forth semi- final spot. The best we can do is annoy Northern United by beating them in pool play. We'll have a good go at that.

Girls vs Hutt
Won: 4 - 0
The junior girls finally had a win. 4-0 over Hutt. Fantastic, aggressive effort by all the girls. Now we're second to last with something, other than improvement, to smile about.

Girls vs Upper Hutt
Drew: 1 - 1

Girls vs Rangikura
Lost: 1 - 0
The junior girls lost 1-0 this weekend and are yet to score a goal but we're learning heaps under pressure. Eddie won't be there on Saturday so will do it without him at Upper Hutt.  The girls are a very young team but are improving in leaps and bounds every week.

Girls vs Northern United
Drew: 0 - 0
Junior girls pulled off a nil all draw with Northern United on Saturday.  This was a better score line than the 2 nil loss last time. The girls displayed a good effort. We just need to find how to score goals again.

Girls vs Toa
Lost 1-0
The girls made the opposition look good this time around.  Enjoy the break girls and we'll try again next term.

Girls vs Hutt
Drew: 0 - 0
Junior girls pulled off another draw. This time against Hutt who have dropped down from P2. They had their chances to win. Hopefully next week. Someone remind me to take the Bibs so it's not red v.s red.

Girls vs Upper Hutt
Drew 2 all
The junior girls faced a physically larger opposition this week and came out with a 2 all draw against Upper Hutt. Good marking, passing and aggression from the team. Their efforts resulted in a very proud coach.

Game 1 (competition round):
Girls vs Rangikura
Lost 1 - 0
The girls (and their parents and coach) had an early start on Saturday morning with their game starting at 7:45am all the way over in Elsdon!  The last time these teams played against each other the score was kept to 0-0. Unfortunately, this time Rangikura were able to sneak one goal past the NaeNae defense to win the game.

Game 5:
Girls vs Marsden
Lost: 2-0
The junior girls had their second loss of the season this weekend, going down 2 nil against Marsden. However, the skill rate has picked up and the determination is there. We now just need to focus on the positional aspect of our game.

Game 4:
Girls vs Rangikura
Drew: 0 - 0
The junior girls had a nil all draw with Rangikura. The ice was still on the turf at 7:45am in Elsdon when they started. They did everything except put the ball in that rectangle thing with the net on it. Was definitely worth watching though.

Game 3:
Girls vs Northern United
Lost 2 - 0
The girls found the importance of keeping strong skills and not giving the ball back to a bigger opposition during this game. A good effort but lots to learn yet.

Game 2:
Girls vs Toa
Drew: 0 - 0
Red vs red may have had something to do with the result in this game. A great game by the girls though.

Game 1:

Girls vs Chilton St James
Won: 3 - 0

Junior Boys Win Final!
Congratulations to the Junior Boys who won their final on Saturday morning!  The boys made a slow start and Kelson spent most of the first five minutes attacking close to and in our circle which was a little worrying. However, the boys then started to pull it together and on their third PC Topaz scored the first goal energizing the team further. Starting the second half 1-nil up, the boys thought a little more about their passes which gave Naenae more attacking opportunities. It was great passing that allowed Topaz to score his second goal of the game. The final goal went to Keiren after a PC saw him in the attacking circle (he was actually centre back at the time :) ). Great way to finish the season boys.

Boys
vs Northern United - SEMI FINAL
Won: 1 - 0
Junior boys played a nail biting semi final against Northern United and up to the last couple of minutes the score was nil all. A good team effort and Devan on the post saw Naenae score saving the team having to go into extra time and potentially to strokes. Players of the day went to Devan for the goal and to Michael for his defense but it was a great team effort. Next week the boys will face Kelson for 1st and 2nd place which is also likely to be a very close game so come and support the boys if you can. Thanks to all our supporters today, it was much appreciated.

Boys vs Tawa
Won: 3 - 1
It was with a lot of coughing, huffing and puffing that the junior boys took to the field this morning to play against Tawa. Viruses and asthma problems plagued the team but they still managed to play a great game to pull of a 3-1 win. Well done to players of the day Jarrod and Jaydan for good positional play and their willingness to try new positions.

Boys
 vs Northern United
Drew: 1 - 1
The junior boys had a good game this morning against Northen United drawing 1 all. Much better passing today and great defending. Well done Eligh and Daniel who were players of the day for their defence and moving to the ball. Keep it up boys.

Boys vs Kelson
Lost: 2 - 1
Junior boys lost to Kelson 2-1 in the last seconds when a penalty corner was given just on the full time whistle. A better game than last week though. Players of the day went to Jacob Curry and Michael Ula. Great effort boys. Next weeks focus; passing to our own team not to the opposition.

Boys vs Tawa
Won 1 - 0

Boys vs Hutt 3
Won: 2 - 0
The boys enjoyed a good win over Hutt this weekend.

Boys vs Harbour City
Drew: 2 - 2
After a very slow start the junior boys were two nil down at half time against Harbour City. Second half was much better and there were some nice passes and team work. Hopefully we will start next weeks game like we finished on Saturday. Congratulations to Ron and Topaz who won players of the day. Both boys got this because of the way they moved to the ball, their tackling and great effort.

Junior Boys vs Bishop Viard
Won by default
Unfortunately, the opposition didn't turn up for this game so the junior boys won by default.  Luckily, they were able to gather some people form the sidelines and still had a bit of a friendly game.

Boys vs Wainuiomata
Won: 4 - 0
Great game from the junior boys yesterday with a win, 4-0 against Wainui. The team received some very positive comments re their skills from the Wainui coach and supporters. Eligh Arthur and Topaz Maulolo received players of the day. Well done boys.

Boys vs Kelson
Won: 4 - 2
The junior boys also had the rain, wind and piercing cold to deal with this week. With very cold hands the team played a very nice short passing game and came away with a 4-2 win against Kelson. A huge thanks to Topaz who played in goal and made some really nice saves. Well done also to Jacob Curry and Jaedan who were players of the day.

Game 1 (Mixed grade):
Boys vs Hutt Intermediate
Drew: 1 - 1
First game for the junior boys in the mixed grade and we played Hutt Intermediate. The first half of the game was a bit of a muddle with Naenae players all gravitating to the middle and then discovering that there wasn't anyone to pass to. The bunching also allowed some long passes from the opposition to go through meaning the boys were doing a lot of running trying to get possession back. It was also in this half that one of our youngest players, Jonathan McDonald, got hit by a stick after coming in from behind to tackle. After 4 hours at the hospital he returned home sporting 3 stitches but in fairly good spirits and a hard lesson learnt. Meanwhile a worried team needed reassurance that Jonathan would be OK before going back out for the second half. The team played a much better game in the second half and managed to even the score to a 1 all draw. Jacob Arthur had a great game as centre back and stopped several runs into the circle earning himself one of the player of the days. The other player to be rewarded was Ron Koshy who consistently moved towards the ball instead of just waiting for it. Well done team and take it easy Jonathan; we hope you'll be back playing soon.

Game 5:
Boys vs Northern United
Lost: 4 - 3
The junior boys had an early morning start to their Saturday with their first away game at Elsdon. The team was down 2 nil at half time but after some reminders about needing to tackle, passing and marking it was like a new team that went on for the second half. The boys played well scoring 3 goals while Northern managed to get in a couple more to finish up with the win 4-3. Jonathan McDonald had another great game and was awarded one of the players of the day. The other player was Drew Pio who made some great passes and kept his hits safe with no wild golf swings. Well done team.

Game 4:
Boys vs Harbour City
Lost:1 - 0
The junior boys narrowly lost their game on Saturday against Harbour City going down 1-0. Well done to Jacob Arthur who was one of the winners for player of the day. Jacob just learnt to jab on Thursday and managed to stop a couple of opposition runs using this new skill.
The other player of the day was Daniel Collins who gave 100% in his position of inner always making sure he got back to help defend.
Keep up the good work team.

Game 3:
Boys vs Tawa
Won: 5 - 0
Congrats to Josh Bridewell and Michael Ula (both of whom are new to 11 aside hockey) for winning players of the day. They both kept their positions well and made good solid tackles and passes. Well done team.

Game 2:
Boys vs Northern United
Lost: 3 - 0
A challenging game today for the junior boys against Northern which ended with Naenae down 3 nil. The focus for the junior boys gameon Saturday was positions. The boys find this a bit difficult as they are all so keen to get to the ball. They are learning that if they are all trying to get the ball there is no one to pass to so we will be focusing on this for the next couple of weeks.

Game 1:

Boys vs Harbour City
Won: 3 - 0

P2 Men vs Hutt 3 - Friendly
Won: 5 - 1
Goals: Bruce Irwin (2),
The P2 men had a mixed game.  In the first half, they had a number of opportunities to score but struggled to put the ball into the goal. Hutt managed to score first to take the lead in the game 1 - 0 and it wasn't until near half time that NaeNae finally managed to put the ball  actually into the goal (and not wide of it) and even up the game.  In the second half, NaeNae made more of their opportunities and put more away, eventually winning the game 5-1.  It was a great game to end the season on.

P2 Men
 vs Indians
Lost: 2 - 0
The game was a lot tighter than the scoreline would suggest, and both goals were scored in the last 5-10 minutes of the second half.  NaeNae had some good attacking plays but were unable to take the full advantage of these.  The defense worked incredibly hard, keeping the Indians out.

P2 Men
 vs Harbour City

Lost: 1 - 0
The men played a solid game this weekend and had a couple of chances to score early in the game but weren't quite able to slot it past the Harbour City keeper. Harbour managed to get one goal past the NaeNae defence in the first 15 or 20 minutes of the game and threatened another couple of times but Prab did a great job of keeping them out. Harbour went into the break 1 - 0 up. In the second half, there were more goal scoring chances for both teams but both were unable to score so Harbour took the 1-0 win.

P2 Men
 vs Victoria
Lost: 4 - 1
Goal: Travis Speakman (1)
The men had the better start from the 2 teams and created a couple of chances at goal but were unable to convert them in open play.  They were eventually awarded a PC.  The initial shot was saved by the goalie but Travis collected the rebound and put it in the goal to give NaeNae a 1-0 lead.  Unfortunately, it wasn't too long before Vic managed to even up the scores and they had bagged another goal before half time to take the lead.  Vic went on to win the game 4-1.

P2 Men vs Hutt
Lost: 8 - 3
Goals: Eden Kitney (2), Chris Page (1)
The boys had a hard game this weekend: they were playing against the team at the top of the table in some pretty tough conditions (as those of you who played on Sunday could sympathise with).  NaeNae hung in there for most of the game but found the pace of the game pretty challenging.

P2 Men vs Northern United
Drew: 1 - 1
Goal: Chris Page (1)
The boys were without their 2 main strikers this weekend but were still able to come away with a draw.  Northern scored towards the very end of the first half to have a 1-0 lead at half time, but NaeNae came out strong in the second half and it wasn't long before the scores were tied at 1-1.  Both teams had chances at goal during the remainder of the game, with both keepers making some good saves.

P2 Men vs Hutt 3
Won: 4 - 3
Goals: Jamie SInclair (3), Travis Speakman (1)
This ended up being a game of 2 halves.  The NaeNae boys dominated in the first half and scored 3 goals to have a 3-0 advantage at half time.  In the second half, Hutt scored 2 quick goals and suddenly were in the hunt.  NaeNae were under more pressure in the second half than they were in the first and did a lot of defending.  They were able to take the win with the final score 4-3.

P2 Men vs Kapiti
Drew: 2 - 2
Goals: Travis Speakman (1), Richard Lennon (1)
The men found themselves 1-0 down in the first half after Kapiti were able to convert from a PC.  However, it wasn't much longer before Travis was able to even up the scores. He was close to getting NaeNae the lead after a nice run and pass from Amon but Travis wasn't quite able to collect it and the scores were tied at half time. Midway through the second half, Kapiti were again able to convert from a PC and for the second time in the game had the lead.  Towards the last 10 minutes, Kapiti had a one-on-one with the keeper, which they weren't able to score from but were awarded a stroke for their efforts.  Prab made an amazing save on the stroke and the score was kept at 2-1.  In the last 5 minutes, Richard Lennon was passed the ball through the D and only had the keeper to beat.  The keeper saved the shot and the ball rolled into the middle of the 3 Kapiti defenders, who all stood and looked at it. Richard came flying through the circle of defenders, reversed the ball into the goal and evened up the scores 2 all in the process.

P2 Men vs Indians
Drew: 3 - 3
Goals: Travis Speakman (1), Richard Lennon (1), Jamie Sinclair (1)
The NaeNae boys were the first to score in this game and managed to have a 2-1 advantage at the break.  Unfortunately, the Indians were not out for the count though and scored 2 very quick goals at the very beginning of the second half to find themselves in the lead for the first time in the game. The Indians managed to hold onto their lead until the last minute of the game when NaeNae was awarded a PC.  The ball went to the top of the circle where Travis put it through to Richard Lennon on the post who slotted it in the goal to end the game in a draw.

P2 Men vs Harbour City
Lost 4 - 0
The team were playing the top of the table in this weeks clash and perhaps let that get into their heads at the start of the game.  The first half wasn't the best from the boys in red and Harbour City had a 3-0 advantage by half time.  In the second half though, NaeNae played a much better game, sticking to their game plan more than they had during the first half and were able to keep Harbour City down to 1 goal.

P2 Men vs Victoria
Drew: 2 - 2
Goals: Travis Speakman (1), Dave Poole (1)
Victoria scored first in this game with a dubious goal but the NaeNae boys came back and ended up with the 2 all draw.  This team has improved immensely since the beginning of the season when they were beaten by this Victoria team and could have easily won this encounter.

P2 Men vs Hutt 2
Won: 4 - 1
Goals: Amon Van der Burg (2), Travis Speakman (1), David Pool (1)
The boys played a fantastic game against Hutt this weekend, taking a win from the team at the top of the table.  Amon put the first goal on the board with a beautiful reverse stick shot that went into the top left of the goal.  Shortly after, Travis made it two after a great pass from Chris Fahey which gave him a nice run into the D (Chris would like some credit for the assist on this goal). Hutt managed to peg 1 back before half time but in the second half, NaeNae dominated possession and territory with many more chances at goal. Amon opened up the scoring in the second half again to give NaeNae a 2 goal lead, which David extended to 3 goals not too long before the end of the game. A great win for the guys this week and well deserved. If they are able to play like this for the rest of the season, this team could do very well :)

P2 Men vs Northern United
Lost: 3 - 2
Goals: Travis Speakman (1), Jamie Sinclair (1)
The boys came up against a strong Northern United team this week but had a 2-1 advantage during the first half. Unfortunately, Northern were able to even up the scores before half time.  Northern then got the only goal in the second half to take the 3-2 win.  Although the boys were disappointed with the loss, it was still a massive improvement from the 6-1 loss they encountered the last time these two teams played during the grading games.

P2 Men vs Hutt 3
Won: 2 - 1
Goals: Amon van der Burg (1), Travis Speakman (1)
Hutt scored first in this game to take a 1-0 lead but NaeNae were able to equalise not too long before half time when Travis turned over the ball on a 16, drew 3 players and passed the ball to Amon who slotted it in.  In the second half, NaeNae appeared to dominate territory and possession and created a number of good scoring opportunities but it wasn't until the last 5 minutes of the game that a change in the PC move managed to fool the defense and freed the goal up for Travis to take advantage of. It was a very fast-paced and exciting game to watch. The win this week and draw in the first round means that our P2 Mens team is currently unbeaten in P2!

P2 Men
 vs Kapiti
Drew 4 - 4
Goals: Bruce Irwin (1), Travis Speakman (2), RIchard Lennon (1)
The boys took an early 1-0 lead in this game with a great drag flick off a PC by Bruce.  They definitely had the better of their opposition for the first 20 minutes of the game but were unable to capitalise on that. Kapiti managed to claw a goal back to even out the scores before half time.  In the second half, Kapiti got 2 quick goals to have a 3-1 lead, but NaeNae were not yet down for the count.  After 2 goals to even up the scores, NaeNae put another one on the board to have a 4-3 lead with around 5 minutes left in the game.  Unfortunately Kapiti managed to squeeze another goal in just before full time to tie the game at 4 each.

Promotion/Relegation Game:
P2 Men vs Indians
Won: 5 - 2
Goals: Travis Speakman (3), Andy Martin (1), Hayden Williams (1)
The guys came out victorious in this 'must win' game to stay in P2.  They only had a narrow 1-0 lead at half time and extended that to 3-0 not too long into the second half. The Indians took advantage of some opportunities to claw back 2 goals. However, the NaeNae boys had the last say and added 2 more goals to their total before the end of the game to win 5-2 and remain in the P2 grade.

Final Seeding Game:
P2 Men vs Indians:
Lost 4 - 2
Goals: Jamie Sinclair (1), Travis Speakman (1)
The boys ended up being 2-0 down at half time even though they had a few chances at goal themselves and were unable to convert.  In the second half they played better, particularly in the last 20 minutes.  They scored their second goal to be down 3-2 with 5 minutes left on the clock and even though they were putting a lot of pressure on the Indians

Cross Over Game 1:
P2 Men vs Hutt 3
Lost: 7 - 2
The P2 men went down, 7-2, to a very smart (and young) looking Hutt team. Down 4 zip at the break the boys came on to the park a different team, and clawed two goals back. 3 last gasp goals by hutt in the last 5 minutes meant we lost the second half 3-2.
Special mention for Andrew Martin for re-appearing in the red and black, just like he never left, (ask his lungs the same question)

Grading Game 3:
P2 Men vs Indians 2
Lost: 2 - 1
Goal: Hayden Williams (1)
The boys played a good game this weekend.  The scores were tied at 0-0 at half time but it was Indians who scored first in the second half. They put their second goal away on a PC but NaeNae took one back from a PC of their own. NaeNae showed a lot of hunger in the last 20 minutes of the game and were unlucky not to be able to take advantage of some great attacking plays up the field.

Grading Game 2:
P2 Men
 vs Victoria 2
Lost: 6 - 2
Goals: Travis Speakman (2)
The boys were on the back foot early on in this game and went into the sheds 3-0 down. The score could have been closer though as they definitely had some real chances at goal but were unable to put them away.  They came back out in the second half a lot more structured and their defense was looking great for the first 20 minutes.  Victoria were still able to put 3 goals past them but Travis Speakman scored twice late in the second half to bring the final score to 6-2 (and ensure Victoria didn't get the bonus point).  Prabjeet Giddie had a good game in goal, making a number of great saves when he needed to.

Grading Game 1:
P2 Men
 vs Northern United 2
Lost: 6 - 1
Goal Scorer: Warrick Saunders
The boys knew it was going to be a tough game but the scoreline was very flattering to the opposition. They were definitely a lot more competitive than the score would otherwise suggest - and were actually leading 1 - 0 at one stage of the game!

R1 Men vs YWCA 1 - Friendly
Lost: 5 - 2
Goal scorers: Michael Hendrie (1), Dave "Casual" Poole (1)
YW only had 9 players so we lent them Carl (to make it hard for ourselves) and a P1 lady stepped in to help them.  It was a very relaxed game of back and forward and everyone just having a bit of fun.  There was plenty of banter with the Naenae umpire (Richard Manson) by one particular normally very quiet Naenae player playing for YW - all in good jest - on his very relaxed stance with the advantage rule. Michael started off the scoring for the R1M and then Casual scored the second.  Casual could have had a second goal if he was able to direct his header (yes "header") towards goal off a sublime pass by Cairns directed squarely at his forehead - I mean he didn't even need to move.  The score blew out after Phil subbed off to make another cameo appearance in the field.

R1 Men
vs Indians
Lost: 3 - 1
Goal scorer: Michael Hendrie
The last game of the round robindid not quite end with outcome we had hoped for but we played hard and had the ball in the right half of the field for most of the game.  Unfortunately, the Indians defense was just too good at the circle for most of the game.  Dave Poole was able to draw the keeper and lay off a great pass to Michael Hendrie to score our only goal of the game.
Due to some luck we have stayed in R1 as YW have got the same amount of points but we have a better goal difference by 2 goals.
Special thanks to Craig McWilliam for reffing.

R1 Men
 vs Kapiti
Won: 6 - 1
Goals: Dave "Casual" Pool (2) Stewart Robertson (1) Cairns "One touch wounder" Mason (2) Kapiti "paid off" Full back (1) Phil "Cameo Field player" Taylor (3 set ups)
This week was a big change with most things falling our way, including some soft goals that snails would have beaten over the line but a goals a goal.  There was so much action it's hard to know where to start, so we will start with Simon the "stay out of my D" Keeper.  After the 5th slide tackle in the defensive D, getting the ball (and possibly the player) Kapiti kept well away from our D.  Dave started the scoring, closely followed by Stewart finishing of a rebound of the pads on a PC. 2-0 at half time Richard had a seen the chink in Kapiti armour and Amon quickly used it in the second half to get ball up the field to the forwards for some more attacks on the circle.  One of the Kapiti full backs had a spot of bad luck when he trapped the ball behind the keeper after Dave's shot and dribbled it around the keeper and over the goal line and Phil set up two goals for Cairns to slot home on the post. Kapiti had a break away and a spot of luck of their own to slot one past the defence to get the final say in the match and bring the score to 6-1.

R1 Men
 vs Indians
Lost: 3 - 2
Goal scorers Dave "Casual" Pool and Chris "wheels" Page
The 1st half was dominated by the Indians scoring early and late in the half to make it 2-0 at half time. After some tough love words at half time from Richard and Carl, the R1's came out firing in the second half and scored a lovely goal by Wheels. Then Casual got his stick to a cross that ricochet into the top of the net to even up the game.    Both teams became very hungry for the win and it wasn't until the last minute of the game that the Indians slotted the winning goal home after a couple of miss traps and the keeper caught off guard.

R1 Men vs YWCA 1
Won: 7 - 2
Goals: Cairns Mason (3), David Poole (1), Amon Van der Burg (2), Stewart Robinson (1)
The boys played a great game in wet conditions on Sunday.  They opened the scoring up early.  Simon had a great game in goal, often coming right out of the goal to meet the attackers at the top of the circle and making some great, clean tackles in the process.  It was great to see the team play together this week and take advantage of the scoring opportunities they created for themselves.

R1 Men vs YWCA 1
Lost: 2 - 1
Goal: Amon Van der Burg (1)
The R1s played their best game of the season, where everything started to come together with the exception of the final score.  Amon started the scoring early with a reverse hit into the top right hand corner, setting the tone of the game and inspiring the front row to try and get another.  After 15 more shots at goal YW had a few break aways and slotted one past the defence before half time.  With the scores tied at half time, Richard was happy with his teams efforts (and was even smiling).  The NaeNae boys were back out there in the second half  trying to win the game.  Unfortunately we came away with a loss but our heads held high.

R1 Men vs Upper Hutt
Lost: 6 - 3
Goals: unknown
The score does certainly not reflect the game in this instance.  We welcomed Amon and Dave into the team this week.  First game out at Maidstone for the boys and after a stern talking to before the game from coach Manson the boys were into it.  The early part of the first half saw UH pepper the Naenae circle from various angles with Phil making a number of good saves and the defence doing some good scrambling but after 15mins they managed to squeeze one passed Phil. We picked up our passing game and made some good attacks down the right and left flanks and went into the sheds 2-1 down and well in the game.  Minus Jamie Jollie who had broken his nose following a stray stick (2nd broken nose in 3 weeks for us).
The start of the second half saw some of the best hockey the boys have played this year.  After about 15mins of end to end hockey we had made some concerted attacks down the Upper Hutt end and should have been awarded a clear PC but not to be and UH went down our end and scored to make it 3-1 UH.  A real game changer as Naenae had gained the momentum with solid attacks from the forwards assisted by Amon coming from deep.  Naenae keep pushing forward and the end to end continued.  got back to 3-2 down then 4-2.  The later part of the game saw some great attacks from the Young Guns (and one oldy) and at one point I think we had 5 shots narrowly saved or just missed in about 3 minutes and Phil and the defense doing the same down the defensive end.  Final score was 6-3 to UH, but again did not reflect the effort and intensity the boys put in this week.  Many thanks to Jerry Flintoff for making a guest appearance.

R1 Men vs Petone
Lost: 4 - 1
Goals: Jamie Jolly (1) (Steve Sinclair did get 2 goals for the opposition)
It was a very frustrating game for the Young Guns on the weekend. The difficultly we had with passing and trapping as well as a lack of running off the ball resulted in a disappointing loss.  Steve had a some unlucky tackles that resulted in deflections in the goal. Jamie Jolly had a great reverse hit into the top right hand corner of the goal to inspire the guns to go hunting for more but were unsuccessful.  Wheels was back in full motion this week, he even forgot to stop at one stage and went flying right over a Petone defender.

R1 Men vs Indians
Lost: 4 - 0
It was a bitterly cold Sunday morning with the wind howling and the rain pelting down. The R1s started off strong with good control, but after 30 mins the Indians got one over the line.  The second half was colder and the rain was more like hail. A massive hack on Steve resulted in his stick being cracked. Stuart made a tackle in the circle and the ball went straight up into his nose and broke it - great dedication and we hope you make a fast recovery Stu!!

R1 Men vs Kapiti
Lost: 3 - 1
Goal: Cairns Mason (1)
Two early crappy/scrappy (i mean thesse were absolutly rubbish, just trickling over the line, probably not helped by the ring in defence) goals by Kapiti gave them the win. Should have been 1-1. very rare apperance by Brent Philpott, was very exciting (He still got game).

R1 Men vs Indians 4
Lost: 3 - 2
Goals: Jamie Jolly (2),
The R1 Men had the upper hand in this game right from the start with a quick goal to have a 1-0 lead.  The Indians felt the pressure for most of the first half but were able to clam themselves down eventually and claim back a goal to even up the scores for the start of the second half.  Again it was NaeNae who scored first in the second half to take the 2-1 lead.  Unfortunately, towards the end of the second half the Indians were able to score 2 quick goals and take the win. Phil Taylor had a particularly great game, with a number of saves which kept NaeNae in the lead for most of the game!

R1 Men vs YWCA 1
Won: 3 - 2
Goals: Carl Young (1), Cairns Mason (2)
The boys played a solid game this week and took their first win for the competition round.  YWCA were camped down in our defensive circle for the first 15 minutes of the game but the NaeNae defense held strong and then the game opened up with some good chances on attack.  Carl put the first goal on the board to give NaeNae the lead but shortly after YWCA were able to even up the scores. With less than a minute left in the first half, Cairns slotted in a second goal to give NaeNae the 2-1 lead at half time.  It was YWCA who scored first in the second half to even the scores up again.  The rest of the game was fairly even, with both teams having chances at scoring goals.  But again it was Cairns to the rescue, scoring the winning goal with less than a minute left in the game.

R1 Men vs YWCA 2
Lost: 5 - 2
Goals: Chris Page (1), Stewart Robertson (1)
Man of the Match: Stephen Sinclair
The first half of the game was a lot of back and forward with some nice shots on goal from both teams. However, it was until the dying minute of the first half that YW scored from a rebound off Phil's pads.  The second half was completely different, with NaeNae coming out strong and dominating possession and territory for the first 15 minutes after the break.  This is when Wheels finished off a nice pass from Cairns (One Touch) to even up the scores.  YW went ahead again with two more goals off drag flicks from a couple of PCs.  At the other end of the turf, Stewart charged in on a rebound from a NaeNae PC to slot home one last goal for the men in red. Unfortunately YW had the last say of the game with a late beak away and a one-on-one with the keeper, making the final score 5-2.

R1 Men vs Upper Hutt
Lost: 5 - 2
Goals: Chris Page (1), Cairns Mason (1)
NaeNae started off strong and remained strong for the duration of the game, though Upper Hutt had patches of breakaways by capitalising on small mistakes.  Wheels (Chris) and One-Touch-Wounder (Cairns) were up to their usual tricks of keeping the defense on their toes. Cairns was going back to his rugby days as he was tackled by the keeper (Cairns thought he was just taking him out because he wasn't going to be able to save the shot!).  Stuart had a solid game at center half where he controlled the game and set up some great play that resulted in turn overs at key points throughout the match.  Phil got man-of-the-match for making some good saves which meant the score was down to a fraction of what it was in the last encounter between these two teams.

R1 Men
 vs Petone
Lost: 4 - 2 Goal scorers: Chris Page (1), Simon Bickers (1)
It was a very back and forward game, Naenae had some great compression and position they where just kept out of the D, Simon had a cameo as an inside left for 5 mins and scored a goal before being relocated to the back, Wheels was up to his usual tricks of causing havoc for the Petone backs by getting turn overs and pressuring them into making mistakes (and making himself man of the match).

Promotion/Relegation Game:
R1 Men vs Indians
Lost: 3 - 2 (in double extra time)
Goals: Cairns Mason (1), Jordan Dunn (1)
This was a very intense game from the start.  The Indians scored early but some great passing meant that Jordan answered straight back and the game was tied 1-1 at half time.  R1's kept the ball up the attacking end for most of the game, but the Indians defense was just to good and we were unable to slot the last goal in. With the scored tied at 2 all at the end of the normal time, the game went into extra time.  We played 6 minutes with 9 players each but as no team scored we went into a second 6 minute period with only 7 players. Unfortunately, an Indian winger made a break down the right wing, had a 1-on-1 with the keeper and manged to hit a reverse shot into top left hand corner of the goal to win the game for the Indians.

Final Seeding Game:
R1 Men vs Victoria
Won: 6 - 1
Goals: Cairns Mason (3), Chris Page (1), Jamie Jolly (1), Jordan Dunn (1)
Vic Started with 7 men on the field as they had the wrong game time, but quickly had a full team to defend the crashing waves of attack from NaeNae.  After waiting for their keeper to be on to make it look more impressive, Cairns got the first goal.  Vic had a quick counter attack and Phil had a 1 on 1 at the top of the D slide tackling and coming away with the ball.  Simon was flying around the field marking his man out of the game to the point that the Vic attacker had to swap sides of the field to get away from him. Michael and Josh had some fantastic passing up the wing. Chris and Cairns where working well together with Chris doing all the running, and Cairns the one touch wonder. It was a great game, everyone played well but Michael Hendrie was the player of the match.

Cross Over Game 1:
R1 Men vs YWCA 2
Lost: 9 - 3
Goals: Cairns Mason (2), Chris Page (1)
The young guns started off really well on defense with wave after wave attacking the circle but nothing getting in. That was until the dreaded PC came along. A comedy of errors resulted from that PC when the ball was hit straight at Steve on left post, who left it for the keeper.  Unfortunately Phil kicked Steve's foot instead of the ball and what was a comedy of errors no longer seemed so funny! The front line was fired up and answered back quickly with Cairns getting the Guns on the scoreboard.  The game as a whole was very back and forth but the NaeNae guys didn't manage to finish off their chances inside the D.  Some great work from the front line got us up the field quickly with some one twos which allowed Chris Page finished off a great cross. Three things to work on for next week 1. Possession 2. square and straight passes 3.strong on the ball  (4. not letting the top team wear out Andy Martin)

Grading Game 3:
R1 Men vs Victoria 4
Lost: 4 - 2
Goals: Cairns Mason (2)
The team tried hard but unfortunately we couldn't stop Victoria getting their first goal after the first 5 minutes, then they got another soon after.  We fought back and Cairns managed to get a goal past their goalie before half time. In the second half Victoria started dominating again and
managed to get another 2 goals, but eventually Cairns got another goal.  Even though we lost, we are improving each week as the oppositions goals are getting fewer and fewer!

Grading Game 2:
R1 Men vs Indians;
Lost: 5 - 2
Goals: Cairns Mason (1), Josh Bond (1)
The team started off well with Cairns getting the first goal within the first 10 minutes, but then the Indian team fought back and managed to score 4 goals in the first half.   In the second half the team played a lot better passing to each other and Josh scored a great goal by fighting for the ball
and perseverance paid off.  Even though the team lost it was a much better game than last week and they can only improve in the future games!

Grading Game 1:
R1 Men vs Upper Hutt:
Lost: 8 - 0
This again was going to be a tough game, although the score was again perhaps a little too flattering towards the opposition. NaeNae did have a couple of goal scoring opportunities which they were unable to take advantage of, but they played a much better second half.

R3 Men Win Semi-Final:
It certainly had the tension and build up of finals, with the guys having a strong pregame pep talk by nuts, reiterating the three key tactics, width, channels and passing.
The boys went out fired up, and right from the start it was like viewing a different team than the last few weeks. Lots of interpassing, and right through the game NaeNae had probably 80% of the ball and territory.
Matty B was superbly positioned just off the LH post when a ball was hit there from Ants at RI, unfortunately Matty couldn’t connect with the bouncing ball, but it set the scene for the team and Karori knew they were in for it.
Legs scored to open his account, although the Farts could have been up by 3 at that stage. Karori had a rear foray into the Farts circle, and Damon once again cleared off the line to save a goal.  Unfortunately it didn’t go far enough, Karori put it goal wards and a touch saw it trickle in 1-1.
Half time talk was held undercover out of the rain, and reinforced the pre-game tactics. Craig was struggling to get enough breath to talk, and the boys were silent.
The second half was more of the same, with a couple of lapses into the dribbling runs that cost us the last three games. However, one did pay off. Al picked up a ball from a tackle on defence, dribbled 30m to get over halfway, passed to Legs who took it further, then a couple more passes and back to Legs who slotted it, 2-1 up.
And there it stayed – the Farts were through to their second Final in 3 years.
This was a much better team effort, and to be honest, if we’d played like this all season we would have finished with a clean sheet, and probably no draws.
The whole team pulled very well, it was hard to pick MVP, but Legs ran all night, set up a number of chances and scored 2.
Special Mention to Al, Matt and Andy B, and also Dan who had a great game on the left wing.
Final next Sunday, 9.45 NHS1 – come along and support the boys.

R3 Men
 vs Karori
Drew: 2 - 2
We managed to salvage a draw against Karori, Ants and Nuts getting the goals. the game was against us as the umpire at one end was hopeless and Trapper hobbled off in first 10 mins with a severely torn calf muscle, end of his season!
BJ, Al and Ants all played well.

R3 Men
 vs Upper Hutt
Lost: 3 - 2
Goals: Wayne Chapman (1), Nuts (1)
R3 Mens blew a 2-0 first half score line to lose 3-2. To be honest we played crap in the second half, and UH played the better hockey and  deserved to win.

R3 Men
 vs Indians
Drew: 4 - 4
Goals:
An old cliché but the right one for the Farts game yesterday. The Farts won the first half 3-0, but Indians won the second 4-1! And full credit to the opposition for their resurgence in the second half.
The Farts had most of the pressure, possession and position in the first half. With the wings both playing wide and high, there were gaps in the Indians midfield and defence to be exploited, and Trapper on the right did just that. The Farts played a wide game, with quick passing and moved the ball around the Indians defence.
Toddy opened the scoring and got the third, both with hard hit shots from PC’s. The second Farts goal was lovely thing to watch and showed the team is starting to click. After a free hit on the right, Booker dribbled it up to the circle edge, layed a firmly hit pass to Trapper on the RH post who deflected it parallel to the goal line across to Dan on the LH post to put into the goal behind the sprawling keeper.
The farts had a number of other chances, including a Stroke, which after consultation was down graded to a PC (and was the right decision).
In the second half, the Indians got an early goal to come back to 3-1, Al then scored a cracker from the edge of the circle, the spectators on the sideline could hear the crack as it hit the backboard.
But the Farts couldn’t replicate the good play from the first half and eventually Indians drew back to 4-4.

R3 Men vs YWCA 3
Won: 1 - 0
R3 Men had a 1-0 win against YWCA to stay top of the table. Conditions were more like underwater hockey. Good goal from Dan, BJ got player of the day for his awesome defence and tackling

R3 Men vs Petone
Won: 6 - 3
Goals: Wayne Chapman (3), Booker (Matt or Andy?) (1), Anthony Bryant (2)
Trapper ghosted behind the defense to open the scoring in the first 2 mins of then game, then reverse stick slapped one for his second . Petone scored off a dubious PC and the trapper dribbled to the line and pulled back for Booker slot one.
Halftime 3-2
Second half Ants slotted a stroke, then ran into the circle and nailed a great shot. Trapper got his hat trick (after. A 5 min break on the side line). Trapper MVP

R3 Men vs Karori
Won by default
Friendly game result: 5 - 2
Goals: Ants (3), Wayne (2)
Another gloriously fine Sunday afternoon and the Frats were away to Karori at Eldson.
The first game under the new Captain, Nuts, and a full squad (apart from Toddy who’s still injured) turned out for it.
Unfortunately Karori turned up with less than a full team, and no Goalie. So nuts first official job was to accept their unconditional surrender, and agree to bank the bonus point win the default, and play a friendly.
Nuts opened the scoring for the Farts, and Trapper followed soon after with the second. Then the Farts got a PC, and the forwards waited for Nuts to come up to receive it. Looking back down the field lumbering along beside Nuts was Timbo, the goalie! As Karori didn’t have a goalie, he’d decided that any PC’s we got he would go up and play for them in goal – and he made a number of saves for them. Unfortunately for him, straight after the PC’s, he then sprinted (well lumbered again) back to his own goal. This was comical to watch but great sportsmanship.
Karori managed to score in the first half, and Ants added another. In the second half Trapper slotted his second, then the Frats had a period of constant pressure.
The last goal was scored by Ants, although it was really burgled, as the ball was hit into the circle, Daniel sent it goal wards and Ants gave it a final nudge across the line, however it would have gone in even if he hadn’t touched it!

R3 Men vs Upper Hutt
Lost: 2 - 1
Goal: Wayne Chapman (1)
This was quite an even game, and to be honest we just couldn't seem to do much right in the first half. During the second we had all the pressure, getting several PC's and 2 strokes, one of which Trapper converted.
This was our first loss of the round robin, but we should still be on top of the grade.

R3 Men vs Indians
Won: 2 - 1
Goals: Isaac Garton (1), Matt Booker (1)
Indians came out firing in the first half, and the game was pretty even, with the teams huddling in the shed at half time 0-0. The second half the Indians started to fade, both in running and cohesion.  Isaac had a fair flying shot just saved in the first half, and this encouraged him to press on in the second, and finally he got one to thump the backboard. A later scramble around the circle had the ball go across the top, deflected towards the goal off an Indians stick which had the goalie going the wrong way, then Matty somehow got a faint nick and the ball trickled across the goal line.
Indians managed to pull one back with a couple of minutes to go, but it was too late to score again and the final score was 2-1.

R3 Men vs YWCA
Won: 2 - 1
Goal:
R3 won a scrappy game 2-1 over YWCA, to remain unbeaten in the grade, strong second half and should have been more even after going to 10 men near the end

R3 Men vs Petone
Won: 3 - 0
Goals: Wayne Chapman (1), Jason Heckman (1), Willy McBride (1)
So the Farts took field against an 11 man, (well about 7 men, 3 boys and Ross) team that didn’t have a Goalie. Trapper had lost the toss but had chosen to play into the sun in the first half. So Petone hit off but within a couple of minute the Farts had turned over the ball and been awarded a free hit about 5m inside the Petone half. Al (playing CH) stepped up top play it, and looking up saw that trapper (left wing) had ghosted in behind the Petone defence, and promptly slammed the ball towards him, the last defender hadn’t heard Trappers twinkle toes and “left” the ball, only to turn around and see Trapper trap the ball (yes sports fans, that wasn’t a typo, he trapped the ball) and slot it into the goal, 1 nil up after 2 mins!
The Petone goalie turned up about 5 or so minutes later and magically so did their umpire (maybe they were hiding in the goalie gear bag?). The rest of the half went back and forward, although the Farts had most of the ball and a number of shots at goal. One of Petones lone attacks saw the ball hit across the circle with only 1 Petone attacker near and Timbo was forced to come out, both missed the ball completely and the attacker fell over Timbo but their Umpire saw it differently and awarded a stroke. Up strode big bad Ross....and promptly missed. Maybe Timbo uglied the shot wide, but the boys went to the sheds at half time 1-0.
After a stern half time chat from Nuts, battle resumed, and to be honest Petone started to run out of ideas and enthusiasm, and they started to argue with the opposition, the umpire and themselves.
The pressure the Farts had showed in the number of shots on goal and PC’s, and finally a quickly moved ball found Jason in front of goal and the ball hit the backboards. More pressure and a certain goal was ‘saved’ by a foot on the line and Willy put away the stroke, for a 3-0 lead. The game ended at that score, although the Farts platyed well and are starting to hit their straps as a team - it was felt they could have doubled that score.

R3 Men vs Karori
Won: 6 - 1
Goals: Wayne Chapman (2), Daniel Badger (2), Matt Booker (1), Andy Booker (1)
The R3 Men enjoyed a good win this week.

R3 Men vs Upper Hutt 3
Won: 4 - 1
Goals: Nuts (1), Todd Lymburn (1), Damon Harrison (1), Jason Heckman (1)
UH started without a goalie and the Farts tried hard to capitalise early, but gallant defending around the circle kept us out. However not long after the goalie took the field, the Farts opened the scoring with a cracking goal to Jason. Toddy slammed home a PC to put us 2-0 up, but UH pulled one back so that the Farts hit the sheds 2-1 up at half time. Although they’d had plenty of possession and pressure, they weren’t looking like increasing their lead, and in fact UH potentially looked like pulling it back.
The Farts team in the second half played much better. Trapper got onto a strongly hit cross form Jason early in the half, with the ball rocketing just wide of the upright. Matt B managed to sky one high and wide of the goal , and a number of other shots were saved . The Farts had almost all the pressure, with long spells in the UH red zone.
This paid off with some brilliant play from trapper, latching onto a loose ball outside the circle, he drew his player then flicked a pass onto Nuts who was unmarked for him to clamly slide the ball into the backboards.
The young guys played a huge role in the final goal, with Daniel dodged defence turning over the ball, Matt B bringing it up and passing to Jason who deftly beat the keeper and fired the ball at the UH goal. A defender got his foot to it in front of the line and the farts had a stroke! Damon stepped up and calmly put the ball into the corner of the backboards.

R3 Men vs Indians
Won: 8 - 1
Goals: Anthony Bryant (2), Isaac Garton (2), Todd Lymburn (1), Robert Almond (1), Damon Harrison (1), Jason Heckman (1)
After an initial burst from Indians, the Farts got the ball and a PC (3mins and 26 seconds to be exact).
The farts had most of the ball and territory in the first half, and racked up 5 or 6 goals. Ants got a couple, Nuts got one (and then promptly subbed off so that he didn’t injure or strain anything that might impact on his goal scoring celebrations later that night) and Toddy missed a sitter out in front.
The Indians did have their wings high, and got some ball through to them but were mainly shut down. Tim shut down one attack by taking out the attacker in a one-on-one situation, and then saved the stroke! He did exactly the same thing at the end of the game but didn’t save that one (Indians only goal).
Overall it was a vastly improved “team” that played, with everyone willing to pass (a strange feeling in an old farts team) and showing a lot more touches on the running ball.

R3 Men
 vs YWCA 3
Drew: 5 - 5
Goals: Matt Booker (2), Anthony Bryant (1), Glenn Lymburn (1), Willy McBride (1)
Good job from the old farts this weekend - it was great to not lose a match! Came away with 5 - 5 draw having come from 2-0 down at one point. Some excellent last minute on post touches from Matt to seal off some sweet crosses from Ant, especially the last one which left about 4 different players on the ground!

Promotion/Relegation Game:
R2 Men vs Harbour City
Lost: 3 - 0
The Farts returned to their old traditional structure, with a full attack lineup the aim was to try and score early. The game was very even, and pressure was applied at both ends through the first half. Rearend made a fleeting appearance in goal, to be replaced by Timbo after 15 mins, freeing Rearend up to be a field replacement (we only had 12 including him).
Trapper had a shot saved by the goalie late in the second half, the only "on target" shot although a number of others peppered the outside  of the goal.
A valiant effort by Trapper, who had not long before taken a ball in the mouth when back on defense, breaking a front tooth nearly in half.
Craig saved a certain goal off the line, with some stick work that Raffa would have been proud of.
Player of the day was Craig - solid game and spectacular save off goal line.

Final Seeding Game:
R2 Men vs Victoria
Lost: 3 - 0
It was a much improved effort with a number of stand out players but Matt Booker earned Player of the Day for his constant running in attack AND defense , and chasing down the ball when he was beaten.

Cross Over Game 1:
R2 Men vs Upper Hutt 2:
Lost: 9 - 1
It seemed to start with a good omen when Trapper won the toss, second week in a row, and a new record winning streak for him (Surpassing the 1 week streak of the week before). But to be fair, it was all UH from the start, they attacked with enthusiasm, skills and teamwork. The Farts players all tried desperately to hold them back, but all felt at times like the little boy with his finger in the dyke, holding back the flood in small amounts while at other times it surged around him.
Ants scored their only goal in the first half, Trapper was perfectly placed on the top of the D, and great ball came to him from LH but Ants poached it, dragged it a little further into the circle and fired it at the goal.
With all their pressure they only went to the sheds 2-1 up over the Farts.
But it was obvious in the second half that they still had plenty of energy, and their coach had encouraged them in loving and gentle tones at the half time break. They piled on the goals, not quite making double figures, but getting very close.

Grading Game 3:
R2 Men vs Northern United
Lost: 6 - 1
Goal: Anthony Bryant
It was a game of 2 halves, both of which we lost, although like the Forlorn Hope’s throughout history, we gave them a run for their money, literally. Even trapper was seen running, puffing and sweating, covering throughout the game both wings, stints at inners and even Left Half, however his biggest contribution (some say for his whole Naenae career) was probably winning the toss and choosing the sun on their backs in the first half.
It didn’t seem like it, but they also only had 10 men, however they seemed to have a younger average age, and overall a higher skill level (or at least quicker reactions). The 10 players we had were mainly Old Farts plus the Harrison Brothers, so there was more wheezing, coughing and puffing than the Kingston Flier at full steam.
They had most of the possession, and territory, but probably only 60/40. We certainly put up a good fight and applied our own pressure at times. By the second half the match had started to even out, as usual the young players had done their run early, and the stayers started to get their second wind (for some it felt like their first breathes!). Ants scored and the match seesawed back and forth for a while.

Grading Game 2:
R2 Men vs Harbour City
Lost: 5 - 2
Goals: Tod Lymburn (1), Ants Byrant (1)
To be fair, and “all credit to the opposition”, but the final score line didn’t really reflect the complete nature of the game. The Farts had plenty of opportunities, but couldn’t connect to take full advantage of them. In the first half Willy and Rearend were both unable to capitalise on some strong runs and well hit balls into the circle by Isaac “Usain Bolt”. The constant pressure did see the Farts winning a number of PC’s, which saw Toddy stride forward from the back line. The big guy trapped the second one calmly, took one step right of the advancing defender and slammed it into the back board. The midfield is looking strong, good performances by Craig and Al, but built on by the new guys. Late in the second half BJ took a quick tap out of defence, chewed up 50 metres before he was illegally shut down by Harbour City, then again took the tap to set the Farts up for another Foray into the circle.

Grading Game 1:
R2 Men vs Karori:
Lost: 3 - 0
The team was down 1 - 0 at half time but had some periods of great play with some real chances at goal which they were unable to capitalise on.

P2 Women vs Eastern Hutt - Friendly
Lost: 3 - 1
Goal: Yasmin Golding
The girls played well this game but were unable to break the Eastern defence as much as they would have liked.  Eastern scored first from a PC but it wasn't long before NaeNae equalised.  Just before half time, Eastern scored again to give them a 2-1 lead going into the second half.  The NaeNae girls started the second half strong, with a significant amount of time spent in our attacking 25.  Unfortunately, we were unable to convert this into goals.  With less than 10 minutes to go, Eastern managed to get a sneaky touch on a crash ball into the D and scored, taking the 3-1 win.  The girls played a great game but the tiredness and fatigue from the majority of them who had spent the week on school tournament played a big part in the energy levels of the team for this final game.  Nevertheless, the girls have had a great season, having come up from P3 in the grading round and will start next season in P2.

P2 Women
 vs Harbour City
Defaulted the game because too many player were unavailable for this weekends match.

P2 Women
 vs Victoria
Lost: 3 - 1
Goal: Phoebe Slessor (1)
The girls dominated both territory and possession for the first 5 to 10 minutes of the game but eventually, Victoria made a fast breakaway against the run of play and made the most of their opportunity by getting the first goal.  NaeNae had a few good runs at the Victoria defence and made the keeper save a couple of shots at goal.  Unfortunately Vic got a second breakaway later in the first half and also managed to slot that goal home to have a 2-0 lead at half time.  Victoria scored early in the second half to give themselves a 3-0 lead but NaeNae were not out for the count.  With about 15 minutes left in the game, the NaeNae girls put one past the Vic keeper to bring the score to 3-1.  Towards the end of the game, Victoria were awarded a stroke which Jasmine saved to keep the score at 3-1.

P2 Women vs Eastern Hutt 3
Lost: 4 - 1
Eastern scored first in this game to take a 1-0 lead but NaeNae came back quickly and evened up the scores, with a great run down the line from Kiriana and a beautifully timed pass to Oakley who dragged the keeper and scored the goal.  Just before halftime Eastern were able to convert another goal to have a 2-1 lead at half time.  In the second half, Eastern were awarded numerous PC's and were eventually able to score of 1 of those.  Near the end of the game, they scored off another PC and won the game 4-1. A big thanks to Craig for umpiring this game for us!

P2 Women vs Eastern Hutt 2
Lost: 6 - 3
Goals: Shelley McIlvride (1), Matie Whitman (1), thrid goal - I can't remember!
The girls played a great game on Monday night against Eastern Hutt 2 amidst all the lightening and with a couple of sick players and a few fill-in's.  There was some great passing and awesome attack put together by the girls. Eastern managed to take first blood and scored twice, but shortly after that Matie had a great run up the field, took on the keep and scored to bring the scores to 2-1 at half time.  Eastern were able to get a couple of early goals in the second half but the NaeNae girls were not out for the count and their perseverance paid off with 2 goals in the second half.  Eastern took the 6-3 win, but this was a great improvement from the 8-1 scoreline last time these teams played.  Well done girls and a HUGE thanks to the girls who filled in for us (Courtney Stobbs, Matie Whitman, Courtney Monk and Kate Walker).  Thanks also to Vaudin for umpiring.

P2 Women vs Toa
Drew: 0 - 0
The girls played a great game against Toa this week (a strong team who we lost 4-1 to during the first round robin of the competition).  The NaeNae girls dominated possession and territory in the first half but were unable to put a goal into the back net.  During the second half, the Toa team came out strong and the NaeNae girls soaked up a bit of pressure in defence.  Toa had a few PCs which were successfully defended and with about 10 minutes to go in the game, Toa were awarded a stroke.  Our goalie made a great save to keep us in the game.  There were a couple of break aways very late in the second half which we were unable to take full advantage of, so the score remained 0-0 at full time.

P2 Women vs Kapiti
Lost: 2 - 0
The girls traveled up the Kapiti in the sunshine on Sunday and were down a few players from their usual line-up.  We managed to get 11 players there for the first half, but that includes 3 who were sick.  The girls played a good first half, with opportunities to score from general play.  Kapiti managed to put a goal away off a PC and had a 1-0 lead at half time.  In the second half, Courtney arrived and we had 1 sub.  Again there were chances to score from both teams but it was Kapiti who were able to take advantage of another PC and increase their lead to 2-0.  A big thanks to Courtney for rushing out to Kapiti after playing for the R1 team!

P2 Women vs Northern United
Won: 3 - 0
Goals: Laura Halstead (1), Kiriana Wairau-Hunter (1), Oakley Wilson-Rangihuna (1)
The girls played a fantastic first half in this game with lots of short passing and moving the ball into space. The NaeNae girls were looking dangerous on the attack when they start to run the ball and were able to play the majority of the game in their attacking half.  In the second half, the girls still maintained the pressure on the Northern team but were unfortunately unable to convert any more goals.  The Northern team played a much more defensive second half and made it difficult for the NaeNae girls to get a descent shot off.  Oakley did manage to have a good crack at scoring from the top of the D and smashed the ball so hard that she broke her stick (and unfortunately the ball went slightly wide of the goal)! A good win girls!

P2 Women vs Harbour City
Won: 2-1
Goals: Matie Whitman (2)
The girls (like everyone else this week) played in miserable conditions.  Harbour City were able to take the first goal, not long before half time by converting off a PC.  Nevertheless, NaeNae had the advantage of the wind in the second half and didn't take long to even up the scores with a great goal from Matie Whitman.  Matie was also able to convert a second goal for us just over halfway through the second half to give us the win.  The team had a lot of defensive work to do this week and during the second half, Harbour City had numerous PCs which they were unable to convert off.  The whole team defended well - well done girls.

P2 Women vs Victoria
Drew: 1 - 1
Goal: Kiriana Wairau-Hunter
The girls again were defending for the first 5 or 10 minutes of the game before we were able to get a couple of attacking runs.  During one of these first runs, and I think perhaps our first entry into our attacking circle, Kiriana put the ball behind the goalie to give us a 1-0 lead.  The remainder of the first half was fairly even with attacks by both teams although NaeNae were able to attack inside their scoring circle a little more than Vic were.  The second half was fairly similar, although Vic managed to get into the circle a little more than they had during the first half, but NaeNae were still putting together some great attacking plays.  Unfortunately, Vic were able to equalise with about 11 minutes left in the game and although in the dying minutes NaeNae were in their attacking circle, we were unable to convert one final goal to claim the win and instead finished with the 1-1 draw.

P2 Women vs Eastern Hutt 3
Won: 1 - 0
Goal: Marian Stobbs (1)
It wasn't looking like a promising start this week as the team had a few girls call in sick at the last minute. Luckily, Courtney and Marian Stobbs were able to come down and fill in at short notice - giving us the minimum 11 players to start with.  The Naenae girls soaked up a lot of pressure for the first 15 minutes of the game and Jasmine made a number of crucial saves in that period. We never really ventured much into our attacking half, until we got a break away down the left wing 20 minutes or so into the game.  The young girls used their speed to out-run the Eastern defence and ended up with 3 or 4 of our girls against the keeper. The ball was sent across the goal to a waiting Marain who slotted it in and the girls found themselves 1-0 up! The rest of the half was more even, although Eastern likely had more possession and territory until half time.  In the second half, Eastern tried playing their wings high and putting the long ball through. The NaeNae girls adapted well to this and the half was a lot more even in terms of possession and territory.  The NaeNae girls marked incredibly well and held their 1-0 lead until the final whistle.

P2 Women vs Eastern Hutt
Lost: 8 - 1
Goal: Matie Whitman (1)
The P2 ladies faced a hard game this week against a very strong Eastern Hutt side.  The ladies played well for the first 10 minutes of the game but were unable to sustain the pace.  Eastern went into half time 4-0 up.  The beginning of the second half the NaeNae girls came out strong and scored in the first 5 minutes to bring the score 4-1. Unfortunately, the girls began to tire towards the end of the first half and Eastern were able capitalise on this.  Regardless of the scoreline, the girls played well.

P2 Women vs Toa
Lost: 4 - 1
Goal: Shelley McIlvride (1)
The girls came up against a very stong Toa side and for a changed faced an opposition not too dissimilar in ages from our own team. Toa were able to put away 3 goals in the first half but NaeNae did managed to get one in just before halftime to be down 3-1 at the break.  In the second half, Toa scored the only goal from a PC and although there were chances at the other end, we were unable to convert those into goals and Toa took the game 4-1.

P2 Women vs Kapiti
Lost: 2 - 1
Goal: Nicolette de Haan (1)
The girls played against a very experienced side this weekend but were able to take advantage of their speed and Nicolette scored the first goal of the game midway through the first half.  Kapiti had a few PC's towards the end of the first half and were able to capitalise on one of these to even up the scores not too long before half time.  The second half was a similar affair, with Kapiti coming up the field with carefully timed and placed passes, and NaeNae bringing it right back to them with speed and agility. Both teams had chances to score.  Unfortunately for us, Kapiti constructed a nice goal with less than 3 minutes left on the clock and took the win 2-1. Hold your heads high though ladies, the Kapiti ladies were impressed with our team and a few of them even commented on the lovely style of hockey they thought we played.

P2 Women
 vs Northern United
Won: 3 - 2
The girls started the game well and dominated territory but a couple of breaks from Northern against the run of play gave them a 2-0 advantage half way through the first half. NaeNae had some good chances and Kiriana managed to put away one before half time to take the score to 2-1. Northern almost scored 2 minutes into the second half but it wasn't until 20 minutes to go in the half before Yasmin got on the end of a great cross from Oakley to even the scores at 2-2. With about 10 minutes remaining Oakley fired the ball in from the top of the D to give NaeNae the 3-2 lead.  The girls soaked up a lot of pressure in the last 10 minutes but managed to hold Northern out and take their first win from their first game in the P2 grade.

Promotion/Relegation Game:
P3 Women vs Upper Hutt
Won: 7 - 0
Goals: Matie Whitman (4), Kiriana Wairau-Hunter (1), Phoebe Slessor (1), Nicole Edmonds (1)
The girls started the game well with Matie scoring early off the first PC in the match.  Upper Hutt had a few periods of attack in the first half but were unable to put the ball past Jasmine, and NaeNae had a 3-0 advantage at half time.  During the second half NaeNae had the majority of the territory and managed to put 4 goals away. In the dying minutes of the game Upper Hutt managed to earn two PC's but were unable to score of either of them. This win means the girls have secured a place in the P2 competition for the season.

Final Seeding Game:
P3 Women vs Hutt
Won: 2 - 1
Goals: Matie Whitman (2)
The girls had a good game against Hutt and were keen to win this one after letting the last game against this team slip out of their fingers.  Hutt scored first but it wasn't long before NaeNae had a PC and Matie slotted one back to even the scores up for half time.  The second half saw both teams have chances at goals and Matie put a second one over the line with about 15 minutes left in the game.

Cross Over Game 1:
P3 Women vs Kapiti:
Won: 2 - 1
Goals: Matie Whitman (2)
The girls had a tough game this weekend but played hard. They had the lead at half time and as Matie left for netball trials at half time, Laura came on to take her place. Unfortunately this was only short lived as only minutes into the second half an injury forced Laura from the field. Luckily Marian was at the game and was able to come on at the 11th player otherwise the girls would have been down to 10.  The girls were on defense for most of the second half but managed to hold Kapiti out, even after they subbed their keeper in the last minutes of the game to try and take advantage from having an extra field player. Congratulations ladies on a great win.  This means that in 2 weekends time the P3 ladies have booked themselves a promotion relegation match to try and get into P2.

Grading Game 3:
P3 Women vs Hutt 2
Lost: 3 - 2
Goals: Shelley McIlvride (1), Oakley Rangihuna (1)
The girls knew going into this game that is was going to be a lot more challenging that the previous two games.  We played a good first half and managed to have a 2-1 advantage at half time.  Hutt were able to put away a goal on a PC to even up the scores then slot one more home towards the end of the game which game them the win. NaeNae were unlucky to miss out on another couple of goals, with two shots hitting the post!

Grading Game 2:
P3 Women vs Upper Hutt
Won: 6 - 0
Goals: Kiriana Wairau-Hunter (2), Oakley Rangihuna (2), Shelley McIlvride (1), Yasmin Golding (1)
The team had a great first half with a number of break-away attacking plays that put a lot of pressure on the Upper Hutt defense.  In the second half, Upper Hutt decided to play a very defensive game and had a number of players camped out in their defensive circle which made it difficult for us to get the goals. A great game nonetheless though.  Thanks to all the supporters out on the sidelines cheering for us :)

Grading Game 1:
P3 Women vs Island Bay:
Won: 6 - 0
Goal Scorers: Matie Whitman (2), Oakley Rangihuna (2), Kiriana Wairau-Hunter (1), Yasmin Golding (1).
The team played a good first game and although they gave away a PC in the first few minutes, they soon turned that around and dominated both possession and territory for the remainder of the game.  It took a while for the first goal to be scored and we were only up 1 - 0 at half time.  We started the second half with a bang - Island Bay looked very close to scoring but a turnover in NaeNae's defensive circle allowed the girls in red to quickly move the ball up the wing and score at the other end.  A good first game for a very new team.

R1 Women vs Harbour City - Semi Final
Lost: 2 - 0
The girls played a great game on Sunday afternoon in the pouring rain.  Harbour City scored first to take a 1-0 lead but NaeNae had some great attacking runs up the field and were unlucky not to be able to convert some of those into goals.  Not too long before half time Harbour were awarded a stroke and managed to slot that home to have a 2-0 lead at half time.  During the second half, NaeNae looked good again with a few attacking plays up the field and some great defense.  Unfortunately, close as they were, they were unable to score yesterday and ended the game 2-0. The girls have played a great season and did well to make it to the semi finals.

R1 Women
 vs Karori 3
Lost: 3 - 2
Goals: Matie Whitman (1), Laurens Sadlier (1)
Unfortunately, we were robbed of our first goal as the ref didn’t see it go over the line.  We had more subs that what was planned, for me it was great to be back playing even if we have only a couple more games to go also pleased that the team have made it to semis as they have played a great season.  A big thanks to Kate, Caroline and Jolanda for helping out this weekend, they played a great game.

R1 Women
 vs Island Bay
Won: 3 - 2
Goals:
R1 women don't need their coach. They beat top of the table Island Bay today without him. 2-1. 1 more round to go and they're looking good to take on anyone in the grade.

R1 Women
vs YWCA 2
Drew: 2 - 2
Goals: Matie Whitman (1), Tania Forster (1)
Well we had a 2 all draw with YWCA 2 - they are top of the table, goal scorers were Matie Whitman 1 scored from  a PC, the second was from Tania Forster, a beautiful steal after YWCA had a miscalculation from a 16 hit which she took by herself in the circle drawing their goalie out and then simply shot at the empty goal.  A huge thanks to Damon for coming out to Porirua straight from his game at Fraser to umpire.  The team did a great job.

R1 Women vs Hutt
Won: 7 - 1
Goals: Laurens Sadlier (3), Matie Whitman (2), Tania Forster (1), Josie Christiansen (1)
R1 women made hay while the sun wasn't shining on Sunday. 7-1 against Hutt. Hattrick to Laurens. Awesome wet weather game by these women (young and older). Great result. They can't be far off being a secure top 4.

R1 Women vs Victoria
Won: 4 - 1
Goals: Matie Whitman (1), Amy Taylor (1), Laurens Sadlier/Courtney Monk (2)
The last time we played this team we had no goalie and lost, but this time was ours.  2 of our goals were scored from PC’s, Amy’s was a beautiful touch from the side post, the other one was a nice shot just inside the circle.  At half time the score was 4-0 had plenty of opportunities to get the score higher but couldn’t quite make it would have been lovely to get the bonus point but overall the team did an excellent job and was great to have subs. We all missed our coach who was on the ferry coming back on such a lovely day(so jealous).

R1 Women vs Harbour City
Won: 3 - 1
Goals: Matie Whitman (2), Laurens Sadlier (1)
For a team doing minimal practice and having an age range of 13-14, they tie things together really well. Thanks to Emily who stood in goal and well done to Mate for 2 goals and Laurens for 1 goal.

R1 Women vs Upper Hutt
Drew: 3 - 3
Goals: Amy Taylor (2), Matie Whitman (1)
The R1 Women played against a much improved Upper Hutt team this weekend (who they scored a bonus point win from during their last encounter).  The girls nearly swung it around before the end of the game but the draw was more due to our bad management rather than anything else.. Well done to Aimee who put in two goals. We're going well girls. Keep it up.

R1 Women vs Karori
Won: 2 - 0
Goals: Matie Whitman (1), Unknown (1)
The team started with only 10 players on the field this week but were still looking good.  Sure enough, when the 11th player arrived the team started to look even better. They scored early on to have a 1-0 lead at half time. During the second half the girls had a goal disallowed but managed to convert one that counted not long after that to win the game 2-0.

R1 Women vs Island Bay
Lost: 1 - 0
The R1 Ladies lost to Island Bay 1-0 this morning.  Unfortunately the team had to play with only 10 players as 3 rang in sick on the morning of the game.  Coach and manager are really proud of the team for playing such an awesome game with 1 player short.  It would have been a different game had we had 11 players.  Thanks to Kate from R3 who filled in. Natalie our goalie made some awesome saves and without that the score line could have been really different.   For this she was awarded Player of the Day this week.

R1 Women vs YWCA 2
Drew: 1 - 1
Goal: Matisse Uluilelata (1)
The R1 ladies drew with the YWCA team this week. Matisse scored a fantastic goal to give them the draw.

R1 Women vs Hutt
Won: 6 - 0
Goals: Matie Whitman (2), Matisse Uluilelata (1) + 3 other goals (if someone could updated me on the goal scorers that would be great)
R1 women had a 6 nil win over Hutt. A great passing game that opened up some gaps. Got the well earned bonus point after last weeks unrewarded efforts. Good to see Coutney Monk back in the fold.

R1 Women vs Victoria 3
Lost: 3 - 1
Goal: Laurens Sadlier (1)
Due to unforeseen circumstances the R1 ladies played without a goalie and the girls did an absolutely awesome job.  We scored the first goal with a beautiful touch from Laurens, and at halftime the score was one all.  Victoria did catch on fast that we had no goalie and in the second half took advantage of this to score 2 more goals.   Both the coach and manager of the team are extremely proud of the girls/ladies - they played awesome throughout the whole game and well done to Amy who was our player of the day which was totally well deserved.

R1 Women vs Harbour City 3
Won: 1 - 0
Goal: Amy Taylor (1)
The depleted R1 women should still be top of the table with some luck. Aimee scored a goal off right post and then we attacked and defended well for the rest of the game. Well done to the whole team for the one nil win.Special thanks to Khazmin, Kate and Catriona for standing in and to Dale for reffing. Good effort Naenae club. 3 games on at 11.15 in 3 different cities. You were spread thin.

R1 Women
 vs Upper Hutt 2
Won: 6 - 0
Goals: Marian Stobbs (3), Matie Whitman (2), Laurens Sadlier (1)
Well what a game, the weather was horrible, cold and pouring with rain, a huge thanks to Oakley for umpiring she kept her calm throughout the game, also to our team who also kept their calm and played our game.  Yes it was a awesome win against Upper Hutt all goals were well deserved, it all came down to great passing of the ball both sides of field were doing great work getting the ball down the field.

Final Seeding Game:
Won: 3 - 1
Goals: Matie Whitman (2), Phoebe Slessor (1)
NaeNae R1 women beat Karori 3 in the play off for third and fourth today. Two goals to Matie and one to Phoebe. It's been a good round.

Cross Over Game 1:
R1 Women vs Karori
Full Time: Draw 3 - 3
Goals: Laurens Sadlier (1), Matie Whitman (2)
Strokes: lost: 4 - 2
Naenae R1 women lost 4-2 on strokes. A great game was tied up by Karori as they scored in the dying seconds of the game to even up the scores. Thanks to Kiri and Oakley for reffing. The loss means that the R1 women have missed out on an opportunity to play a promotion relegation match to try and get into P3, but they are safe in the R1 grade for the season.

Grading Game 3:
R1 Women vs Hutt 3
Won: 3 - 0
Goals: Marian Stobbs (1), Matie Whitman (1), Amy Taylor (1)
We were 1-0 up at half time with the first goal being scored by Marian half way through the first half which was from a great pass from Laurens at the top of the circle to Marian on the spot to shot the goal.  We had lots of opportunity to get more goals but their goalie was very strong and the ball was just bouncing off her.  The second goal was scored in the second half from Matie which was a beautiful shot from the top of the circle straight into the goal.  Our third goal was from some great passing up the field which drew the goalie out and a great shot from Amy on the right side to get our third and final goal.

Grading Game 2:
R1 Women vs YWCA 1
Lost: 6 - 1
Goals: Matie Whitman (1)
The R1 women played a good first half and had a few opportunities to score when they made the most of the long ball through to their wingers.  It was NaeNae who scored first, late in the second half to take a 1-0 lead but unfortunately it wasn't long before YWCA equalised and then scored again to have a 2-1 advantage at half time.  In the second half the YWCA team came out strong and scored a few unanswered goals to take the win.

Grading Game 1:
R1 Women vs YWCA 2
Won: 2 - 0
Goal Scorers: Marian Stobbs (1), Matie Whitman
The team looked good for their first game and Marian scored a great goal in the first half to put them up 1 - 0 at the break. There were some great periods of attacking play in the game and it was good the girls were able to come away with a 2 - 0 win.

R3 Women vs Toa - Semi Final
Lost: 4 - 2
The girls took to the field in the wind and rain on Saturday afternoon against Toa in their semi final clash.  The girls played hard but it was Toa who scored first and had a 1-0 lead at half time.  In the second half, Toa scored early on to take a 2-0 lead but the NaeNae girls were not out for the count.  After a PC Caroline was able to slot a goal home on the post to bring the scores to 2-1 and tighten up the match.  Toa scored from a great run up the field but NaeNae had the last word with another PC goal from Caroline right on full time to bring the final score to 4-2.  The girls have had a great season and did well to make it to the semi finals.

R3 Women

R3 Women
 vs Victoria
Lost: 1 - 0
The NaeNae girls had 2 subs for this game, which is a luxury they haven't had too often this season.  Victoria managed to score about 10-15 minutes into the first half and although they were awarded a couple of PC's, they were unable to convert those and had the 1-0 advantage at half time.  During the second half, the NaeNae girls came out strong and defended well.  NaeNae had a couple of chances to even up the scores in the last 10 minutes of the game but were just unable to get the final touch on the ball to put it into the goal so Victoria took the 1-0 win.

R3 Women
 vs Petone
Won: 2 - 0
Goals: Nicole Ballantyne (1), Khazmin Gough (1)
The girls played a much better game against Petone this time and were able to take advantage of 2 of their opportunities at goal.  The girls were strong in defensive and had some great attacking plays up the field, using their speed to their advantage.  There were a couple of goal scoring opportunities that the girls were just unable to get the final touch on, but it was a great game overall and the girls always looked like they were going to take the win in this game.

R3 Women vs YWCA
Lost: 3 - 0
The girls played extremely well with only 9 players, and were only 1 down at half time. Special mention to our goalie Emily who had some amazing saves!

R3 Women vs Toa:
Lost: 2 - 1
Goal: Not sure!
The team played well and were unlucky to come away with a loss. There was a high work rate from the team and as a result we went in to half time even.
We missed a few of our team who were unable to play but the ladies that were on the field put in a valiant effort.  Unlucky with a few decisions and the ball not falling quite where we wanted it the ladies ended the game coming frustratingly close to a draw.
The final result was a 2-1 loss. Hopefully we will have better luck next week.

R3 Women - BYE

R3 Women vs Victoria
Lost: 1 - 0
The girls played against Victoria this week and had a sub for the first time in a few games.  The Victoria team put a lot of pressure on the NaeNae defense but it held up well and Victoria were unable to convert any goals in the first half.  NaeNae had a few chances at the other end, but were also unable to convert.  The second half was fairly similar with Victoria keeping the pressure on the NaeNae girls and eventually, with around 15 minutes left in the game they were able to sneak in a goal.  The game wasn't without its dramas though as Kate Walker took a ball to the head about 5 minutes before full time! Aside from a lengthy and painful headache, she has been recovering well.

R3 Women vs Petone
Lost: 4 - 1
Goal: Caitriona Healy (1)
The girls played with 11 players this week and dominated the game with many more shots on goal and much more possession and territory than their opposition but they were just unable to get the goals this week!  There was some great passing up the field and some great attacking play during the game, with a number of attempts at goal that were very close.

R3 Women vs YWCA
Drew: 1 - 1
Goal: Kate Walker (1)
The R1 women were also a little lighter on numbers than usual, with only 11 players at the game in total.  Nevertheless the girls played an excellent game and perhaps deserved the win but came away with the draw.

R3 Women vs Toa
Lost: 5 - 3
Goals: Nicole Ballantyne (2), Amber Owen (1)
The girls played a strong Toa team this week.  Toa had a lot of attacking ball and Jolanda played a fantastic game in the goal, making a number amazing saves and keeping the NaeNae girls in the game.  The NaeNae girls were able to take some of their opportunities on their attack though and the girls should be proud of their efforts in the game.

R3 Women vs Victoria
Won: 1 - 0
Goal: Amber Owen
The girls turned up on Saturday evening at NHS for their match against Victoria and as the whistle to begin the game sounded, the clouds opened up above and the girls played the first half in the pouring rain.  It didn't seem to phase the girls much though as Amber opened up the scoring less than 1 minute into the game by putting a beautiful cross into the goal.  Victoria had periods of attack in the first half and kept the NaeNae defense working hard, but during the second half it was NaeNae who had the most opportunities but were unable to convert.

R3 Women vs Petone
Won: 2 - 0
Goals: Tricia Warren (1), Nicole Ballantyne (1)
The R3 ladies played a fantastic game this weekend and Tricia opened up the scoring withing minutes of the beginning of the game.  Nicole then managed to get a second goal before half time and the girls went into the break 2-0 up.  In the second half, NaeNae created many more chances to score and dominated territory and possession.  They were unlucky not to get another couple of goals, including one shot from Abbey which hit the post.  Overall a great effort from the team who strung together some great passing.

R3 Women
 vs YWCA 3
Lost: 2 - 1
Goal: Nicole Ballantyne (1)
The girls played with only 10 players this game but spent the first 15 minutes of the game on attack.  Eventually YWCA settled into the game but a great breakaway from Nicole, with Amber in support, had the NaeNae girls 1-0 up. YWCA were eventually able to equalise and the score remained level at 1-1 until the last 30 seconds of the game when YWCA managed to sneak one last goal through to take the 2-1 win.

Friendly Game:
R3 Women vs YWCA 3
Lost: 3 - 0
This was a friendly game and the girls started out with only 9 players as they were waiting on 2 of the girls to come out from their netball game.  Thanks to Tania Bond who jumped on the turf to help out, giving the girls 10 players.  They played well in the first half and even though had less numbers, they kept YWCA scoreless until just before half time.  going into the second half 1-0 down, and now with 11 players the girls had some good runs up the field but were unable to score.  YWCA managed to sneak in 2 more goals in the second half to take the game 3-0.

Final Seeding Game:
R3 Women vs YWCA
Won: 3 - 1
Goals: Amber Owen (1), Khaz Gough (1), Tricia Warren (1)
The reserve 3 ladies also had an awesome win. 3-1 against YWCA. Got a bit niggly towards the end of the game but that sometimes happens. Well done ladies.

Cross Over Game 1:
R3 Women vs Karori
Lost: 4-0
The ladies worked well together and had a few chances to score, but unfortunately didn't quite slot one away. Also, a mention to Khaz who had to leave the game with a suspected broken thumb, x-rays came back not broken so we are happy she will be back with us next week!

Grading Game 3:
Won: 1 - 0
Goal: Khazmin Gough (1)
The girls had another good game this week and both teams had chances to score.  At half time the scores were tied at 0-0 but not too long into the second half NaeNae made the most of a PC and scored the only goal of the game to take the win.

Grading Game 2:
R3 Women vs YWCA 3
Drew: 1 - 1
Goal: Trish Cherry (1)
The ladies have showed some great improvement since many of them first started playing hockey only 1 season ago. The game was fairly even and both teams had opportunities to score - in fact, both teams hit the post!  A huge thanks to Jolanda for playing in goal for the second time - she made some great saves in the first half and kept us in the game.

Grading Game 1:
R3 Women vs Harbour City:
Lost 1 - 0
This was a very close game and it could have gone either way. NaeNae had a couple of real chances at scoring but were unable to sink the much needed goal. Many thanks to Jolanda for playing goalie for this game!
